Best Places to Eat and Drink Before a Cubs Game!

The neighborhood of Lakeview is home to Wrigley Field, so as this summer inches closer (we promise it’s coming despite our current frigid temps!) and you plan to attend a game, may we humbly suggest spending the day exploring this great neighborhood! From its tree lined streets lined with single family homes and 3 flats, to the pre war buildings that overlook the lake. And everything in between, this neighborhood offers something for everyone!

So you have those ball tickets but aren’t in the mood for stadium grub? Lakeview has a vibrant dining scene, so depending on your mood here are our top suggestions!

You love a chic hotel dining scene: Hotel Zachary – Restaurant Mordecai

Located directly across from Wrigley Field and inside Hotel Zachary, this chic dining option offers a delectable wagyu beef tartare and an ever classic crab dip. In the mood for a full meal? Don’t sleep on the short rib and finish off the meal with the crackerjack beignets. They also offer a plethora of innovative cocktails with every flavor profile imaginable.  Not your style, don’t worry they also have a selection of wine and draft beers if that’s more your speed!

You want a really good slice of Pizza – Coalfire

You truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu at Coalfire. Like its namesake, the pizza is perfectly coal fired, the crust balanced with just the right amount of crispiness. Start with the house salad, it won’t disappoint and may we suggest you try the pistachio pesto pizza. This surprising pizza is delicious and we couldn’t help but go back for that second, third and who are we kidding – 4th slice!

You may just skip the game altogether! – Vines on Clark

You can easily lose track of time as you enjoy a beer or glass of wine and a bite to eat on this sun lit patio. As you embrace that vitamin D and catch up with friends, order their truffle fries, they are a crowd pleaser. We love to balance those out with the bbq chicken salad. Just don’t be surprised when you notice the sun has set and the bistro lights are twinkling.

You want to embrace the fandom and get pumped for the ball game! – Deuce’s MLB

Get into game day spirit by hitting up this sports bar. You’ll be greeted by eclectic baseball themed decor that somehow just works in the best way! The courtyard fills up quickly as well. The crowd is young and fun and the service is unparalleled. We’d stick to drinks and apps here and get hyped for the ball game!

You need to soak up the beer after the game! Flip Sigi

With its first locations on the East Coast, we got lucky this delicious restaurant expanded to Chicago and we welcomed them with open arms (and bellies!). Casual and quick, the tacos at this Filipino fusion restaurant are just what you need after a few beers. Their adobo chicken bowls with garlic fried rice also hit the spot and if you’re in the mood for “breakfast for dinner” they’ve got you covered with a selection of “egg-whiches”.
