Best Happy Hours in Chicago’s River North

After a long day of work it’s always nice to grab a drink with some co-workers or friends. And who doesn’t like when those drinks and snacks are good deals to boot!?

It’s 5:00 somewhere so rally the troops and head out after work to take advantage of these happy hour specials. This week we’re focusing on the neighborhood of River North, with its convenient downtown location, close to many offices and condo buildings, these options have something for everyone!

For those who want a little Mezze with their wine!

EMA – 74 W Illinois (M-TH 4-6pm)

This Mediterranean restaurant in River North is a sight for sore eyes (especially during these Chicago winters) and the food is just as good as its aesthetics. Be transported to a warmer climate as you sip a glass of vino and nibble on their small bites. May we suggest the hummus and crispy brussel sprouts? With their lighter fare and cheerful atmosphere you’ll feel all the better for it when you walk out the door!

For those who have champagne taste on a beer budget!

Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab – 60 E Grand (M-Fri 2-4pm)

You may have to take a summer friday to enjoy these deals but it’s definitely worth it. Who doesn’t appreciate fine dining on a dime?! Enjoying good food is one of our favorite joys in life and these options definitely don’t disappoint. Start with the buffalo cauliflower and blackened salmon slider and finish off your meal some oysters. We’re hungry just thinking about it! And don’t worry they don’t skimp on the drink deals either, whether you’re in the mood for beer, wine or even a classic cocktail, Joe’s happy hour has you covered!

For those who want to catch the game or play a game!

Highline Bar & Lounge – 169 W Kinzie (T-TH 4-6pm)

Let off a little steam while you enjoy your happy hour libations by popping into High-Point, their game lounge which offers arcade games like skee ball and the classic pacman among others. The specials change daily but you can count on some great cocktail and beer deals and if you love to get into the competitive spirit this is definitely the place to be!

For those who want to enjoy Taco Tuesday! (I mean who doesn’t!?)

Zombie Taco – 530 N Lasalle (M-Fri 3-6pm)

We will take a taco any day of the week so this place is a no brainer for us! Enjoy their taco pairing (beer or wine) during happy hour and take in the vibrant and just plain cool vibes. In addition to a daily happy hour they also offer a Taco Tuesday “Zombie hour” where you can snag $3 select tacos and $8 burritos from 2-4pm.  Add on street corn or some chips & guac’ trust us you won’t leave hungry.

For those who want a view during happy hour

IO Godfrey Rooftop – 127 W Huron (T-Fri 3-6pm)

We promise spring is just around the corner and nothing really compares to watching the sun set over the Chicago skyline. So, whether you need to simply decompress after a long day at work or want to enjoy the view with your significant other, the rooftop at the IO Godfrey hotel offers it all. Their happy hour menu offers a plethora of options – in our opinion you really can’t go wrong with their wagyu beef sliders paired with truffle fries and a glass of red. In the mood for something lighter? Try the avocado toast with smoked salmon and a glass of bubbly!

We hope you’re sufficiently hungry (& thirsty!) and are planning your next happy hour in this amazing city of Chicago. And as with anything, happy hours and menus/deals are subject to change so please don’t hold it against us if a different special pops up (enjoy it ;))!
