5 things Chicago Real Estate Agents recommend you do to get ready for the spring market:

Planning on listing your house this spring? We have just the list for you! As warmer weather inches forward, sellers and Chicago Real Estate Agents are preparing homes for market and buyers are watching for new listings. You want your Chicago property to stand out so here are a few tips from Chicago real estate agents to get your place sold!

  1. Spring cleaning: After hibernating all winter our homes probably need a good deep cleaning and dusting. Get out the broom and duster and don’t forget a Mr. Clean magic eraser! It will become your best friend to get those scuffs off your walls!

  1. Declutter: As you’re deep cleaning consider extending that deep clean to organization as well. Make three piles – keep, donate, and trash. A clean and organized home that’s not overflowing with stuff goes a long way with potential buyers. And it saves you time in the long run!

  1. Garden beds: While we’re sure you cleaned out your flower beds in the fall, inevitably more dead leaves have accumulated underneath the snow that’s now melted and it’s just a bit of a mess. Get those hands dirty and prepare those flower beds for spring. If Chicago temperatures allow, consider re-mulching and planting some seasonal flowers.

  1. Outdoor maintenance: While we’re on the subject of outside, if your Chicago real estate features any outdoor living space we highly recommend power washing. Stained pavers and dirty concrete can be such an eyesore. Invest or rent a power washer, watching all that dirt and staining magically disappear before your eyes is oddly satisfying! Curb appeal is so important!

  1. Indoor maintenance / upkeep: We all have those burnt out lightbulbs that we’ve been meaning to replace but just haven’t gotten around to it, now is the time. Walk your house and take inventory of any maintenance that needs to be done, quick caulking projects and paint go a long way to making a home feel well maintained and taken care of.
