Logan Square & Wicker Park | 25 hottest neighborhoods

Newsflash: Wicker Park and Logan Square are cool…

Of course you already knew that, but it’s still nice when Chicago gets some much needed positive attention on a national stage.

The recently released list of America’s 25 coolest neighborhoods includes Chicago favorites – Wicker Park and Logan Square. The list was published by Hotspot Rentals and was compiled using various metrics including public transportation, shopping, dining, online website reviews and commute times.

Wicker park ranked 22nd on the list and Logan Square came in slightly higher at number 19.

It’s always difficult to quantify “cool” and attempting to is the definition of “un-cool”. For that reason, lists like these will always remain somewhat subjective. Nevertheless, it’s always nice to see Chicago neighborhoods mentioned in a national survey.

This list comes on the back of Forbes nation’s 20 coolest cities. Unfortunately Chicago didn’t make the big board for the 2017 addition, but there is always next year. The only midwestern city to make that list was Madison, Wisconsin – birthplace and alma mater of yours truly.

Hotspot Rentals is not the only recent publication to show Chicago some well-deserved attention. According to Curbed Chicago:

“Lifestyle and travel publication Lonely Planet went slightly off the beaten path when it singled out Chicago’s Avondale community is one of the nations hottest, need to visit neighborhoods.”
